    Benzalkonium Chloride 0.13%

Hand sanitizer to decrease bacteria on the skin. Recommended for repeated use.

    What it does Benzalkonium Chloride

Benzalkonium chloride, often shortened to BZK, is a widely used antiseptic. It is the only active ingredient on the Drug Facts panel, and it is not an alcohol.

  • A small bowl of ivory shea butter beside a few whole shea nuts

    Nut butter

    Shea Butter

Rich in fatty acids that help soften dry, rough skin.

    What it does Shea Butter

Shea butter comes from the nuts of the African shea tree. It contains fatty acids and vitamin E, and it gives a cream its rich, smooth feel.

  • A small bowl of pale sunflower butter beside a sunflower head and loose sunflower seeds

    Seed butter

    Sunflower Butter

Rich in omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids that help keep skin soft and supple.

    What it does Sunflower Butter

Sunflower butter is made from sunflower seeds. Its fatty acids help support the skin's moisture barrier, which makes it a good fit for hands that are sanitized many times a shift.

  • A glass dish of golden jojoba oil with a few jojoba seeds

    Seed oil and esters

    Jojoba

A liquid wax close to the skin's own oil, so it absorbs without feeling greasy.

    What it does Jojoba

Jojoba comes from the seeds of a desert shrub. The formula uses both jojoba seed and hydrolyzed jojoba esters, a light conditioning emollient made from jojoba oil.

Also inside Blue agave and aloe vera, 9 fruit, tea and coffee extracts (acai, blueberry, cranberry, grape seed, green coffee, green tea, pomegranate, raspberry, strawberry), all sources of antioxidants, plus glycerin and vitamins A, D and E.

How it works

An antiseptic in a hand cream

Most sanitizers are alcohol gels. This one puts an alcohol-free antiseptic into a re-moisturizing cream.

The activeBenzalkonium chloride

BZK is a quaternary ammonium antiseptic. It works on contact, and unlike alcohol it isn’t flammable. Here it’s at 0.13%.

The baseButters and succulents

Shea butter, sunflower butter, jojoba, blue agave and aloe vera make up the cream, with vitamins A, D and E.

What’s not in itNo alcohol or fragrance

Alcohol-free, fragrance-free and paraben-free, with no dyes. It’s non-flammable, so there’s no flammable-liquid storage to plan for.

Questions crews ask

FAQ

Is it really alcohol-free?
Yes. The active ingredient is benzalkonium chloride 0.13%, not alcohol. The cream is non-flammable, fragrance-free and paraben-free.
What is it for?
The Drug Facts use is: hand sanitizer to help decrease bacteria on the skin. Rub it onto your hands until it’s absorbed.
Can we use it in a food plant?
Yes. It is NSF registered (category E3, Reg. No. 149782) as a hand sanitizer for use in and around food processing areas.
Can I put gloves on right after?
Yes. Rub it onto your hands until it’s absorbed, then put on nitrile, latex or vinyl gloves.
Will it affect rubber insulating gloves?
ELTEK Labs tested Type 1 Class 2 rubber insulating gloves to ASTM D120 after 3 days of repeated exposure to the sanitizer (October 2020). The gloves passed every AC dielectric proof test at 20 kV.
How is a sanitizing cream different from a sanitizer gel?
It’s a hand sanitizer with an OTC antiseptic active, benzalkonium chloride 0.13%, that helps decrease bacteria on the skin, in an alcohol-free cream instead of an alcohol gel. Facilities choose it where alcohol is a problem: fire risk, ingestion risk, dry skin or glove work.
Will it dry out my hands?
It’s a cream base, alcohol-free and fragrance-free, and it’s dermatologist tested (50-person HRIPT, ALS/BioScreen 22-522A; every subject scored 0).
What sizes are there?
4 mL single-use foils in boxes of 100 or 200, a 50 mL airless pump, 2 oz, 4 oz and 8 oz bottles, a 100 mL airless pump, and 16 oz, 32 oz and gallon pump bottles.
Can I get samples, crew pricing or buy through GSA?
Yes. Request a free sample, ask about crew and distributor pricing, or buy through GSA MAS contract 47QSMS24D0078.

The details

An alcohol-free hand sanitizer that goes on as a cream

I.C. Hand Sanitizing Cream (formerly I.C. Sanitizing Cream) is for people who sanitize their hands all shift long: nurses and caregivers between patients, food plant crews before they glove up, vet techs, lab staff and anyone at a front desk or a shared workstation. It pairs the antiseptic benzalkonium chloride (BZK 0.13%) with a smooth, re-moisturizing hand cream, so you sanitize and moisturize in the same step.

Repeated handwashing and sanitizing can leave hands dry or cracked. Instead of an alcohol gel, this is a cream made with shea butter, sunflower butter, jojoba, blue agave, aloe vera, 13 botanicals and succulents, dimethicone and vitamins A, D and E. The Drug Facts use is to help decrease bacteria on the skin. It is alcohol-free and non-flammable, fragrance-free and paraben-free, and you can rub it in before you put on nitrile, latex or vinyl gloves.

It is NSF registered (category E3, Reg. No. 149782) as a hand sanitizer for use in and around food processing areas. Rubber insulating gloves passed ASTM D120 proof testing after repeated exposure to the cream. I.C. Hand Sanitizing Cream is an OTC drug made in our FDA registered facility in Scottsdale, Arizona. Sizes run from 4 mL single-use foils and 50 mL and 100 mL airless pumps up to gallon pump bottles, and it is available direct, through distributors and on GSA MAS contract 47QSMS24D0078.

1 review for IC Hand Sanitizing Cream

  1. Audrey –

I work in a lab and have to wear gloves often. No matter the material of the glove (believe me, I’ve tried it all), I’m always left with a rash and severely dry and cracked hands. That is, until I got this. Now, every time I take off gloves, I apply a little of this product, and my hands look and feel as if didn’t have a sensitivity at all. Well worth it.
