Key ingredients

What’s inside, and what it does

The antibacterial active that does the work, plus the cleansers that lift dirt and grease. Here is what each one does.

Full ingredient list →
  • Active ingredient · antibacterial

    Benzalkonium Chloride 0.13%

For handwashing to decrease bacteria on the skin.

    What it does Benzalkonium Chloride

Benzalkonium chloride, often shortened to BZK, is a widely used antiseptic. It is the only active ingredient on the Drug Facts panel.

  • A mound of thick white lather on a stone surface

    Cleansers

Triethanolamine Lauryl Sulfate & Sodium Laureth Sulfate

Cleansers that lift dirt, grease and oil from the skin and build a rich foam.

What it does Triethanolamine Lauryl Sulfate & Sodium Laureth Sulfate

These are the main cleansing ingredients. They loosen dirt and oil so water can rinse it away, and their foam means a little product goes a long way.

  • A halved coconut beside a small mound of white lather

    Lather builders

    Cocamidopropyl Betaine & Cocamide MEA

Coconut-derived ingredients that make the lather thicker and milder.

What it does Cocamidopropyl Betaine & Cocamide MEA

Both are made from coconut oil fatty acids. They boost and stabilize foam and soften the feel of the stronger cleansers.

  • A small heap of fine white crystalline powder

    Preservative system

    Gluconolactone & Sodium Benzoate

A pair that helps keep the formula stable and fresh.

What it does Gluconolactone & Sodium Benzoate

Sodium benzoate helps keep bacteria and mold from growing in the product. Gluconolactone is a gentle polyhydroxy acid that also helps hold moisture.

Also inside Sodium chloride, citric acid and sodium hydroxide, which set the thickness and pH.
