Key ingredients

What’s inside, and what it does

One active and a short list of conditioners, with no alcohol. Here is what each one does.

Full ingredient list →
  • Active ingredient · antimicrobial

    Benzalkonium Chloride 0.1%

For hand sanitizing to decrease bacteria on the skin. Recommended for repeated use.

    What it does Benzalkonium Chloride

Benzalkonium chloride, often shortened to BZK, is a widely used antiseptic. It is the only active ingredient on the Drug Facts panel, and it is used in place of alcohol in alcohol-free sanitizers.

  • Conditioning agent

    Dihydroxypropyl PEG-5 Linoleammonium Chloride

A conditioner that helps improve how skin feels.

What it does Dihydroxypropyl PEG-5 Linoleammonium Chloride

This ingredient is a conditioning agent built on linoleic acid, a fatty acid found in many plant oils. In personal care products it helps leave skin and hair feeling soft.

  • Foaming agent

    Dihydroxyethyl Cocamine Oxide

A mild surfactant made from coconut fatty acids that helps build a light foam.

What it does Dihydroxyethyl Cocamine Oxide

Amine oxides like this one are mild cleansing and foam-boosting ingredients. Here it helps the formula leave the pump as a foam that spreads easily over the hands.

Also inside Behentrimonium chloride, a second conditioning ingredient.

The details

A light, alcohol-free foam for the wash-and-sanitize routine

I.C. Alcohol-Free Foaming Hand Sanitizer is the gentler, alcohol-free alternative for people who sanitize again and again through the day: food plant crews coming off the wash sink, dental and medical staff between patients, teachers, front desks and housekeeping. It is made for professional use across medical, pharmaceutical, production and food service settings.

The active is benzalkonium chloride (BZK 0.1%), which kills 99.99% of common germs, and skin conditioners in the foam help keep hands from drying out. Compared with gelled alcohol sanitizers it is non-flammable, less drying to the skin and will not sting cracked, raw hands. The feather-light foam rubs in quickly and leaves no sticky residue, it is fragrance-free and dye-free, and you can use it before putting on nitrile, latex or vinyl gloves.

It is NSF registered (category E3, Reg. No. 149782) as a no-rinse hand sanitizer for use in and around food processing areas, after washing and rinsing hands. With no alcohol it has no VOCs and ships non-hazmat. Made in our FDA registered facility in Scottsdale, Arizona, it comes as a 50 mL foaming pump, a 2 oz spray bottle (same formula), a 20 oz foaming pump bottle and a gallon refill, direct, through distributors and on GSA MAS contract 47QSMS24D0078.
